Other Gems in the Holguin Province

The province offers a mix of urban charm, pristine northern beaches, and rugged mountain escapes with Holguin city known as the “City of Parks,” featuring elegant colonial plazas and a thriving art scene. The most beautiful and iconic landmark is La Loma de la Cruz that features an 18th-century cross that is a local symbol of faith. You can climb 458 steps or take a taxi to the summit for panoramic views of the city. 

  • Gibara: A picturesque fishing village about an hour’s drive from Holguin city also offers an off the beaten path cenote & cave diving opportunity.

  • Guardalavaca  Renowned for its fine white sand and calm, shell-shaped shoreline protected by coral reefs, making it a pleasant and easy dive spot.
  • Cayo Saetía: A unique island nature reserve where you can take a jeep safari to spot exotic wildlife like zebras, antelopes, and ostriches roaming freely.
  • Salto del Guayabo: Located in the Pinares de Mayarí region, this is one of Cuba’s highest waterfalls. It features two stages cascading down through lush pine forests.

  • Birán is the birthplace of Fidel, Raúl, and Ramón Castro. Once a thriving 23,000-acre family estate known as Finca Las Manacas, it was converted into a museum

  • Baracoa –  Visit the “land of cocoa” where the rainforest meets the sea. It was Cuba’s first settlement and remains its most enchanting, isolated paradise.
